Most Beautiful Irish Wedding Venues With A Piano

I’ve performed the piano in a lot of beautiful wedding venues in the past decade. This experience has brought me into contact with some wonderful instruments in various locations. As a pianist, it’s extremely validating to see a wedding venue professing an appreciation for live music by housing a piano.

And so I want to return the compliment. I’ve decided to reflect on my experiences of my favourite venues that I’ve performed in by making a top list of each venue while focusing on what I think makes that venue worthy of your consideration as you plan your wedding. Please note that I’m not affiliated in any way with these venues and so I’ll be writing impartially.

So, on with the list! (in alphabetical order)

1. Angler’s Rest (Wrights)

Piano at Angler's Rest, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

Located near the famed Strawberry Beds in West Dublin, this gastropub doubling as a wedding venue (upstairs) is a little gem on the banks of the Liffey. I’ve performed at many a wedding ceremony and drinks reception in their dedicated ceremony room conjoining banquet room. They have a grand piano in situ in the latter and it’s a treat to perform in this gorgeous spot that harks back to an olden time.

At Wrights Anglers Rest we have a baby grand piano in the reception area of our stunning wedding venue. This is available to be used during the wedding day, whenever the couple chooses. Music is a fantastic way to create atmosphere and evoke emotions to enhance such a special day, and we want all of our couples to experience it.

2. Ballymagarvey Village

Piano at Ballymagarvey Village, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

Ballymagarvey, situated in the heart of County Meath is a dedicated wedding venue sporting a beautiful white Steinhoven in its conservatory. It’s a stunning, sprawling venue enmeshed in nature and it’s a treat to perform a drinks reception here particularly in the height of summer. I’ve previously brought my own piano for ceremonies in their separate ceremony room. I’ve never tired of playing this white beauty.

Ballymagarvey’s response to this post

At Ballymagarvey, music plays a central role in creating the perfect atmosphere for our couples and their guests. Our piano, with its timeless elegance, brings an extra touch of sophistication and warmth to the drinks receptions. It reflects our commitment to providing an unforgettable experience, blending charm and beauty with moments of personal connection. The sound of the piano resonates beautifully through the Manor House, creating the perfect ambience for guest to enjoy.

3. Barberstown Castle

I remember thinking, the first time I stood foot in the long hall of Barberstown Castle, that it made me think of something from the set of Game of Thrones. It’s an amazing venue situated in Straffan, Co. Kildare and it has an amazingly medieval feel. The brown grand piano is beautifully tuned and a powerful beast for filling up the hall at a drinks reception. There’s an adjoining ceremony room and courtyard which I’ve also performed piano in and it’s one of my favourite venues in Ireland.

4. Bellingham Castle

Piano at Bellingham Castle, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

A fabulous venue, tucked away in Castlebellingham, Co. Louth, this is another dedicated wedding venue with fantastic staff and top class service. I’ve enjoyed performing in this spot over the years at weddings. Their piano bar connects on to a lovely patio area which is a suntrap in the summer. I’m particularly fond of this venue and look forward to many more summers playing there.

5. Castlemartyr Resort

Piano at Castlemartyr Resort, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

I’ve admittedly played only once, to date, in Castlemartyr, Co. Cork but I distinctly remember it being a drinks reception during Christmas. The piano and the smell of mulled punch left a highly positive impression on me and it’s regularly rated as one of Ireland’s top wedding sites, unsurprisingly.

6. Johnstown Estate

Piano at Johnstown Estate, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

Another entry of several in County Meath, The Johnstown Estate recently completed a refurbishment whereon I played their amazing Yamaha grand piano on a few occasions. Located in a large conservatory, beside a trendy new bar, it’s easily one of the most beautiful instruments I’ve performed on and I genuinely enjoy being asked to play at drinks receptions here. Their wedding room joins on to this area and converts into the large function room for the main reception.

7. K-Club

Piano at The K-Club, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

Probably home to one of Ireland’s best well known golf clubs, the K Club, also in Straffan, Co. Kildare, boasts not one but two wonderful pianos that I’ve played. There is an upright piano in the main foyer area and it sits underneath a Jack Yeats original. Hard to miss when you’re playing for two straight hours. The other piano is a powerful Yamaha grand located in the club house, which doubles as a reception hall.

8. Kilashee

Piano at Kilashee, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

This extremely popular hotel near Naas, Co. Kildare houses an old but immensely satisfying upright piano which I’ve enjoyed playing on a number of times over the past few years. The hotel itself is spacious, a blend of old and modern and is simply a delight to perform for many happy couples in.

9. Lough Eske Castle Hotel

Piano at Lough Eske, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

This is a magnificent wedding venue secluded away in Co. Donegal and I performed a number of times on an enchanting grand piano. With large grounds surrounded by forested lakeland, it’s one of Donegal’s treasures and the hotel itself houses a team of friendly staff. I’ve performed at memorable ceremonies in this spot before and it’s one of those special treats which I loved to get booked for.

10. Mustard Seed

Piano at The Mustard Seed, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

The Mustard Seed near Adare, Co. Limerick, might seem an unusual choice to be included given that it’s a small venue, a bit aways from my base in Kildare. However, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the couple of times I’ve performed in this place. They have a remarkably nice Yamaha upright piano and twice I’ve played for late evening after-dinner on it to rapturous appreciation. These have been a couple of my more exciting gigs and I’d gladly welcome another chance to perform there in the future.

11. Tankardstown

Piano at Tankardstown, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

Tankardstown’s grand piano is positioned elegantly at the top of a spiralling flight of stairs and this Co. Meath venue is one of the more enchanting venues in Ireland with a winding driveway into an old, 17th century mansion. Like most places on this list, it’s always something of an experience to perform in this wedding destination.

12. Tinakilly

Piano at Tinakilly, Ireland, a venue where pianist Paul Fagan performs as a wedding and drinks reception pianist.

I’ve been playing the two lovely pianos in Tinakilly Country House for my entire piano playing career and I never tire of performing during wedding meals in the unique marquee on the grounds of this Wicklow marvel. In the historic main house, there is an array of artwork and ornaments and it’s simply a highlight of my year whenever I get to perform at this splendid wedding venue.

13. Waterford Castle

Having stayed as well as played in this pearl located just outside Waterford City, I’ve nothing but good associations with this wedding venue. It’s a unique specimen. You need a car ferry to get across to it because it’s set on an island on the Suir river. It’s a perfect wedding venue and I’ve had extremely positive experiences playing on their resident grand piano during the meal.
