FAQs
What types of weddings do you perform the piano at?
I am available to perform piano at Humanist, Spiritualist, Catholic, Protestant, Interfaith, Renewal, Destination, Elopement and Same-Sex Ceremonies.
Can I have solo piano at my wedding ceremony?
Absolutely! Solo piano is a popular choice for wedding ceremonies, providing a beautiful and elegant accompaniment to the proceedings. From classical favourites to modern pop songs, instrumental piano music can be tailored to suit your specific tastes and preferences. Piano music can create a romantic and intimate atmosphere that will make your special day even more memorable. So if you’re looking for a sophisticated and timeless musical accompaniment for your wedding ceremony, solo piano is a great choice.
How do we go about choosing music for our wedding?
Great question. Your choice of music is often a deeply personal one but you may feel like you’d like some guidance on it. I usually ask couples to check out my setlist, available as a PDF which I can forward on to you, for ideas. Normally, couples will refine their ideas over time, running it by me, until we can agree a final set for your big day.
Can you learn and play specific songs which are meaningful to us?
I certainly can and I am very flexible on this front. I thoroughly enjoy expanding my repertoire to include new songs and artists whose music may or may not be known to me. I see it as an integral part of my job description to learn and play specific songs which you’d like to request.
Do you have your own equipment or will we need to provide a piano for you?
I have a beautiful portable digital piano which I use at most weddings and drinks receptions. I use a PA speaker in conjunction with my piano in order to bring you the very best sound that you’d expect to hear on your wedding day. My current piano is a high end Yamaha P515. Of course, in the event that your venue has a piano in situ, I’m more than happy to park my own at home, provided that the venue’s piano is tuned to an acceptable standard!
Can you perform outside or in other non-traditional spaces?
Without hesitation. My setup has relatively small footprint and I’m very used to manoeuvring in tight or airy spaces. The only caveat to performing outside is that I need a power source and some shelter to stop my gear getting wet.
How long do you typically play during a wedding ceremony and reception?
I don’t have a time limit on the ceremony and, in fact, I like to offer couples a little extra pre-ceremony music in order to warm up the guests, at no extra charge. For drinks receptions, my standard performance is two hours, non-stop, beginning only when your first guests start to arrive at the venue.
